Job Details

Summary

The Staff Accountant is responsible for preparing and reviewing financial documents, reports, and statements. They oversee all accounting procedures in accordance with GAAP and company policies, monitor internal controls, and advise on general finance matters.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Responsible for maintaining the accuracy and completeness of financial statements and supporting ledgers in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
Ensures an accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial close.
Maintains general ledger structure to allow for effective and efficient reporting & analysis.
Complete assigned account reconciliations in a timely manner.
Prepare financial reports as assigned.
Ensure sales and use taxes are calculated accurately and coordinate all external audits and information requests.
Evaluates and makes appropriate improvements to accounting processes ensuring that practices are efficient, effective, and support the overall goals of the organization.
Provide outstanding customer service to both internal and external customers.
Evaluate current processes and internal controls, both within the accounting group as well as interfaces with other Company departments and recommend and drive process and control improvements.
Prepare journal entries and reconciliations for monthly general ledger close. Assist in the preparation and distribution of financial statements.
Assist in preparation of monthly management report and accompanying schedules, worksheets and narratives, including “Budget vs. Actual” variance reports. Assist in providing follow-up and documentation of significant variances.
Assist with preparation of the annual budget and mid-year forecasts by working with the individual departments on their expenses.
Document policies, procedures and workflow for assigned areas of responsibility.
Contribute to department and organization special projects as assigned.
Verify accounting transactions are accurate and in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) with 100% compliance and accuracy.
Close the financial records each month accurately and according to a predetermined schedule – provide information for income statement, balance sheet, and cash flow review by Director of Finance and VP of Finance. Stays within set deadline 100%.
Monitor company bank accounts (daily, weekly, etc. – as needed based on the account) and reconcile timely each month.
Prepare a budget vs. actual report for each department monthly and conduct monthly overview meetings with department managers.
Report daily sales activity to internal employees and corporate officers.
Other duties may be assigned by Manager or Supervisor.
Education and/or Experience

A Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance with a minimum of 3-5 years related experience is required.
