Job Details

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and review federal and state tax returns for individuals, partnerships, and small businesses
  • Provide tax planning and consulting services to clients throughout the year
  • Oversee and support bookkeeping services, including bank reconciliations, financial statement preparation, and general ledger maintenance
  • Manage payroll processing and compliance for small business clients
  • Supervise and mentor junior staff and provide technical guidance
  • Maintain strong client relationships through regular communication and support
  • Ensure compliance with relevant tax laws and filing deadlines
  • Assist with IRS and state audits or notices as needed
  • Identify process improvements and support overall firm operations

Qualifications:

  • CPA or Enrolled Agent (preferred but not required)
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in public accounting, with a focus on tax, bookkeeping, and payroll
  • Strong knowledge of individual and partnership taxation
  • Proficiency with QuickBooks (Online/Desktop), payroll platforms (e.g., Gusto, ADP), and tax software (e.g., Lacerte, ProSeries, UltraTax, or similar)
  • Comfortable managing multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a small team
