  • $95,000.00/yr. (minimum) - $130,000.00/yr. (maximum), depends on experience
Bonus Potential:

Job Details

GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES: Responsible for income/franchise tax compliance. Assist in the management and preparation of all the tax research, forecasting, and provision work.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Reports directly to the Vice President – Tax

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

1. Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution and a CPA.
2. Minimum of five years combined in progressively responsible tax experience in public accounting and industry, with an emphasis on real estate, partnership, multistate taxation, and accounting for income taxes.
3. Background with consolidations and inter-company transaction processing is preferred.
4. Working knowledge of real estate taxation and partnership tax concepts such as IRC Sections 704(b), 704(c), 752, and 754 is a plus.
5. Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license unless otherwise noted.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Prepare and review federal and state income tax returns, extensions, estimates and workpapers for complex partnerships, corporations, and REITs using Thomson OneSource Income Tax.
2. Prepare company-wide income tax projections & partnership allocations for various entities.
3. Compute and manage partner projections including projected debt allocations under Sec. 752, depreciation allocations under 704(c), and annual partner book-ups.
4. Compute quarterly partnership distributions & state withholdings, including the maintenance of partner non-resident withholding records.
5. Analyze transactions and prepare periodic projections of taxable income.
6. Assist with the preparation of the company’s ASC740 income tax provision including the reconciliation of deferred tax, tax payable, and reserve accounts.
7. Ensure compliance with current and new federal and state tax laws through research & analysis and help with the preparation of tax position memos.
8. Oversee and manage the Company’s tax compliance process to assure that all filings are timely completed, including research of filing requirements.
9. Assist with regulatory documentation requirements under SOX 404, FIN 48, and assist with outside tax audits.
10. Assist with the development and implementation of integrated and efficient tax policies and practices.
11. Perform other duties as assigned or as needed.

PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Knowledge of organizational policies and procedures. Knowledge of fiscal management, and office management techniques. Ability to apply policies and procedures to solve everyday company issues.
  • Strong technical background in real estate and partnership taxation. Ability to think conceptually and translate concepts into practical applications and solutions.
  • Must have a strong work ethic, integrity, and good business acumen.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of increasingly complex tax concepts and effectively apply tax knowledge to business situations. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Must be able to adjust plans and schedules to respond to crisis situations and to withstand pressure attributable to meeting the changing needs of company executives.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, various operations, and from investors. Must have the ability to manage workload, to develop efficient and effective processes.
  • Knowledge of computer systems and applications. Ability to proficiently use computer applications including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint (Peoplesoft General Ledger and Asset Management systems a plus). Ability to research, analyze and logically organize data from general ledger and asset management systems. Ability and experience in creating and professionally formatting complex Excel files using formulas and built-in check figures is required.
