The Tax Manager is responsible for developing and managing tax services provided to clients such as federal and state tax preparation, tax projections and analysis. This position involves client facing activities providing comprehensive tax services to existing clients, developing new business, and assisting our advisors and financial planning team with strategic tax planning. This position will also develop comprehensive financial plans for clients with assets $1mm+.

Job Details

Responsibilities:
  • Prepare, review and sign-off on federal and state tax returns for individuals and trusts
  • Assure compliance with federal and state tax laws and regulations
  • Conduct research and planning to resolve client issues according to applicable tax laws and regulations
  • Communicate directly with clients involving income tax matters, tax research, and compliance with minimal guidance
  • Respond to notices from tax authorities
  • Assist Director in the training and management of senior and staff accountants.
  • Oversee the assignment of a population of clients with your assigned preparer and work together proactively on the relationship
  • Complete assigned projects in a timely manner and keep supervisors apprised of job status
  • Participate in internal strategy discussions for clients, collaborate with advisor teams and planning departments to address tax services objectives.
  • Manage coordination and integration of tax services, analysis, and department projects.
  • Prepare tax projections and use financial planning tools in wealth planning engagements.
  • Proactively engage in firm wide initiatives developing tax services, building firm relationships, supporting business development and client retention activities

Must Haves:
  • Working knowledge of tax preparation; preferably 5+ years of experience as well as considerable knowledge of partnership, corporate, and individual taxation
  • Licensed: Certified Public Accountant or Enrolled Agent
  • Proficient with Windows and Microsoft Office
  • Demonstrated knowledge with CRM software
