Job Details

We have an immediate opening in their Irvine office for an experienced Tax Principal to join our tax team. As a Tax Principal, you will have acquired the technical and business skills and experience to work effectively with all clients. You have demonstrated that you have the leadership, business, and interpersonal skills necessary to service, maintain, grow and be responsible for a portion of the Firm’s book of business.

You will manage multiple client engagements, with responsibilities ranging from keeping Partners informed on significant client developments, to resolving accounting and tax problems, to dealing with senior members of client management. You will be entrusted with a number of our top clients and be responsible for providing exceptional service and work-product. This is a great opportunity to work in a variety of industries, supervise staff and deal directly with clients. You will be responsible for managing each client engagement from a financial standpoint, which includes project budgeting, monitoring of job progress, billing, and collection. You will have important staff development and counseling responsibilities along with the responsibility for staff chargeability and productivity, as well as engagement profitability. Also, you will be expected to represent the Firm in professional, educational, and practice development activities. You will have demonstrated your overall ability to manage diverse client situations and will have developed a contact network for practice development purposes.

You should be prepared and willing to take on the responsibility of signing returns. Future promotion will be based upon your successful handling of these responsibilities.


POSITION DESCRIPTION:

  • Review and sign complex tax returns and perform tax research
  • Responds to tax notices from tax authorities
  • Review tax information supplied by client
  • Meet with or contact client regarding general or complex tax issues
  • Recognize, anticipate, and resolves tax issues as well as making tax saving recommendations
  • Communicate efficiently and effectively with staff to reasonably resolve requests and issues that may arise
  • Provide superior client service
  • Successfully manage the planning, administration, and conclusion of client engagements
  • Successfully manage the profitability of client engagements
  • Add value by helping the client achieve and sustain competitive advantage
  • Create projects through client knowledge & contact



CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting required
  • 7+ years of tax experience in public accounting
  • Active CPA license
  • Experience with HNW individuals and entities across a diverse range of industries
  • Proficient in corporate, individual and partnership taxation and tax planning
  • Previous experience supervising and training staff
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • Must be highly motivated and experienced in managing multiple client engagements
  • Ability to organize, multi-task and prioritize accordingly
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Outstanding analytical, organizational and project management skills
  • Knowledge of Lacerte, ProSystemFX, QuickBooks, & Microsoft Office Suite
