Your responsibilities
  • Use various electrical and mechanical test equipment, environmental chambers, motor dynes and control systems to perform drive lifetime and reliability tests. Work with supply voltages up to 600VAC and follow all safety requirements
  • Collaborate with fellow reliability engineers, both locally and globally, to design and share best practices for Accelerated Life Test and Ongoing Reliability Test systems and fixtures
  • Gather, generate, and share knowledge on physics of failure to increase the local and global awareness of reliability. Use knowledge of Arrhenius, Coffin-Manson, and similar age acceleration factors to predict test run times and product lifetime. Analyze test results with Six-Sigma or Weibull analysis techniques to interpret data
  • Drive continuous improvement in the Reliability Laboratory through shared learning, innovation of failure analysis techniques, exploring equipment to support FA (Failure Analysis) and RE (Facility Management) testing and staying up to date on new technologies. Adhere to and encourage a safety culture
Your background
  • Bachelor degree in engineering with 5 years or experience with design, implementation and performance of reliability tests, including HALT (Highly Accelerated Life Test), ALT (Accelerated Life Test) and ORT required.
  • Experience with root cause failure analysis, design of experiments, numerical data analysis techniques (Six Sigma) and reliability prediction. Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills are required.
  • Knowledge of AC (Alternating Current) motor drive/ inverter functionality, experience with electrical circuitry and PCBAs (Printed Circuit Board Assembly), thyristor and IGBT (Insulated Gate Bipolar Transistor) control and power supplies. Knowledge of control electronics and power electronics relating to motor control and AC (Alternating Current) motor drives preferred.
  • Experience writing test plans and implementing test software via PLC (Programmable Logic Controllers) programming language, LabView and/ or data acquisition systems. Knowledge of moving, storing, and manipulating test data over networks and databases highly preferred.
  • Knowledge of testing at voltages from 208V-600V and a strong motivation to put safety first. Experience with designing safety features and interlocks into test systems with the goal of using engineered controls to make the system “fool-proof” highly preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, energetic and comfortable with self-directing assigned activities. Strong initiative to complete projects, works well both independently and in team environment preferred. Confidence to make recommendations, able to gather and analyze data and present findings to the local and global Product and Reliability Engineering teams preferred.
