VP of Operations - Marine Construction

Heavy civil general engineering contractor with offices in San Diego, California. For more than 80 years, we have excelled in maritime and heavy construction, including piers, wharfs, marinas, deep pile foundations, bridge construction, and dredging. Projects along the western seaboard, from Panama to Alaska, have been successfully completed by us. We perform a large portion of projects using our personnel and specialized equipment.

Schedule: Monday to Friday with occasional OT

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced VP of Operations to join our thriving Marine Construction company. As a key member of our executive team, you will play a pivotal role in driving the success and growth of our organization. Responsibilities:

• Oversee and manage all aspects of our construction operations, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
• Develop and implement strategic plans to optimize operational efficiency, improve productivity, and enhance profitability.
• Lead and mentor a team of construction professionals, providing guidance, support, and fostering a culture of collaboration and excellence.
• Collaborate with other executives and departments to align operational goals with overall business objectives.
• Monitor project progress, identify potential risks or issues, and take proactive measures to mitigate them.
• Ensure compliance with all industry regulations, safety standards, and legal requirements.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, vendors, and other stakeholders, ensuring exceptional customer satisfaction.
• Continuously evaluate and improve operational processes, systems, and technologies to drive innovation and achieve operational excellence.
• Stay abreast of industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies, and incorporate them into our operations to maintain a competitive edge.

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 10 years of experience in a VP of Construction or similar role within the MARINE construction industry.
• Extensive expertise in marine construction is required (Dredging, Pile Driving and Concrete Wharf / Pier "on water" experience etc.)
• Proven track record of successfully managing large-scale construction projects from inception to completion.
• Strong leadership and managerial skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate teams to achieve exceptional results.
• Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with a strategic mindset.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with various stakeholders.
• Solid understanding of construction regulations, safety standards, and legal requirements.
• Proficiency in project management software and other relevant tools.
• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
