Typical Day:

• Clinical Oversight: The Manager will provide clinical and operational oversight to the OB unit, ensuring nursing standards of care are met for OB patients, laboring women, newborns, and gynecological patients.
• Patient Care Coordination: Coordinating patient care services with patients, staff, physicians, and other departments, promoting positive outcomes and health while avoiding patient harm.
• Leadership and Collaboration: As a working manager, the role involves collaborating with physicians and healthcare professionals, leading the team effectively, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and staffing goals.
• Staff Relations and Development: Managing staff relations, including performance management, staff satisfaction, and conflict management. Overseeing staff scheduling, training, recruitment, and payroll.
• Budget and Vendor Management: Monitoring and developing the departmental budget, ensuring regulatory compliance, and managing vendor relations for systems, equipment, and supplies purchases.

How This Role Differs from other Jobs:

• Clinical Expertise Required: The Manager must possess at least 5 years of clinical experience in caring for OB patients, newborns, and gynecological patients, in addition to management and leadership skills.
• Nursing Administration Team Membership: This role is part of the Nursing Administration Team, giving the Manager opportunities for career growth and leadership experience.
• Direct Patient Care Involvement: The Manager may provide direct or indirect patient care within the hospital, in addition to managerial responsibilities, adding a hands-on aspect to the role.
• Scope of Responsibility: The Manager is responsible for ensuring high-quality patient care, regulatory compliance, and effective staff management within the OB unit, making it a comprehensive and impactful leadership position.
