- Manage a caseload of workers' compensation cases, including initial client consultations, investigation, negotiation, and litigation.
- Conduct thorough legal research and analysis to develop effective case strategies.
- Gather relevant medical records, employment documents, and other evidence to support clients' claims.
- Prepare and file legal documents, including petitions, motions, and appeals.
Client Representation:
- Provide legal advice and guidance to clients regarding their rights and entitlements under workers' compensation laws.
- Communicate with clients, insurance companies, and opposing counsel to negotiate settlements and resolve disputes.
- Represent clients at administrative hearings, mediations, and trials, advocating for their best interests.
- Collaborate with medical experts, vocational specialists, and other professionals to build strong cases.
Legal Compliance:
- Stay up to date with changes in workers' compensation laws and regulations to ensure compliance and provide accurate advice to clients.
- Review and analyze insurance policies, contracts, and other legal documents related to workers' compensation claims.
- Assess the validity of claims and determine the appropriate course of action.
Team Collaboration:
- Collaborate with other attorneys and legal professionals within the firm to share knowledge, strategies, and best practices.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to junior attorneys, paralegals, and support staff.
- Participate in firm-wide initiatives, training programs, and professional development activities.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
- Admitted to the CA bar and in good standing
- Minimum of 3 years of experience practicing workers' compensation law.
Knowledge and Skills:
- In-depth understanding of workers' compensation laws, regulations, and procedures.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to assess complex legal issues.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities to effectively communicate with clients, opposing counsel, and the courts.
- Negotiation and advocacy skills to represent clients' interests during settlement discussions and hearings.
- Proficiency in legal research tools and technology commonly used in the field.
- Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously.
- Strong work ethic, integrity, and a commitment to client service.
Interpersonal Skills:
- Empathy and compassion for injured workers, with the ability to establish rapport and build trusting relationships.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
