We are currently seeking a seasoned Accountant or Controller for our dynamic construction company. This role is a crucial part of our team, instrumental in managing and overseeing all financial aspects of our business. The successful candidate will be responsible for budgeting, payroll, invoicing, financial planning, accounting, financial analysis, and forecasting. This role requires a minimum of 5 years of experience within the construction industry, and a deep understanding of financial law and risk management. Responsibilities:
1. Oversee all company accounts and investments.
2. Create monthly and annual reports to identify results, trends, and financial forecasts.
3. Manage cash flow by tracking transactions and regularly reviewing internal reports.
4. Supervise and manage financial department staff, including accountants and financial assistants.
5. Motivate and lead finance team members by clarifying roles and providing helpful feedback.
6. Suggest updates and improvements for accounting systems, including payroll and invoicing.
7. Ensure that all financial transactions are properly recorded, filed, and reported.
8. Establish and implement financial reporting systems to comply with government regulations and legislation.
9. Collaborate with auditing services to ensure proper compliance with all regulations.
10. Develop budgets and financial plans for the company based on research and data reports.
11. Review all financial plans and budgets regularly to look for cost reduction opportunities.
12. Examine all financial reports and data closely to check for discrepancies.
13. Create systems to prevent errors in data collection and calculations.
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Master’s degree preferred).
2. Certified Public Accountant or Certified Management Accountant designation required.
3. A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a senior financial managerial position in the construction industry.
4. Advanced computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office and Microsoft Dynamics SL financial reporting software.
5. Exceptional knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, cost accounting and cost control principles, and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
6. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
7. Strong leadership qualities.
8. Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
9. Knowledge of federal and state financial regulations.
10. Ability to understand new issues quickly and make wise decisions.
11. Ability to inspire confidence and create trust.
12. Ability to work under pressure, plan personal workload effectively and delegate.
