We are looking for a dynamic and experienced Accounting Manager to join our team. This is a permanent position that offers a unique opportunity to play a pivotal role in our company's financial operations. You will be responsible for overseeing our accounting department, preparing financial statements, managing grant accounting, and ensuring our financial data is accurate and compliant. The successful candidate will be a strategic thinker with a keen attention to details and a strong understanding of financial laws and procedures.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and manage the general accounting functions, including, but not limited to: accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and taxes.
  • Coordinate and direct the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts, and report variances.
  • Manage and comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.
  • Develop and maintain timely and accurate financial statements and reports that are in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
  • Manage the acquisition of capital assets and ensure that assets are properly recorded, amortized, and disposed of as appropriate.
  • Prepare and present financial reports, metrics, and data to the executive team and stakeholders.
  • Implement and ensure adherence to financial policies and procedures.
  • Oversee the management of all grants, ensuring that finances are managed according to the organization's policies and procedures and in compliance with all federal and state grant requirements.
  • Manage the use of QuickBooks and other relevant accounting software.
  • Review and analyze financial data and report on financial performance.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience in a senior accounting or financial management role.
  • Strong knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles including GAAP.
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks and financial statement preparation.
  • Experience in grant accounting and familiarity with federal, state, and local financial regulations.
  • Strong supervisory skills and the ability to oversee a team.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make sound decisions based on accurate and timely analyses.
  • High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results-orientation.
  • CPA or CMA designation is preferred but not required.
