We are currently looking to fill an Accounting Manager opening for a sizeable client of ours in Santa Ana, CA. This will be a direct hire role on-site 5 days a week and paying a total compensation package of up to $190-200K which would include base salary plus bonus along with full benefits, 401K, etc.
Our client is a well-established and growing leader in the building materials industry and for decades now, they have been distributing drywall, steel framing, acoustic ceilings and construction supplies to over 300 locations across North America and Canada.

Job Details
In addition to managing day-to-day operations, the Accounting Manager will play a critical role in leading monthly rebate margin reviews across major product lines, partnering directly with the CFO and senior operational leadership to provide insights into financial performance and support strategic decision-making.
The successful candidate will be a strong people leader with a solid technical foundation in accounting and a proactive, analytical mindset to drive process improvements and automation.

Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage a team of 4–5 accountants focused on vendor rebate accounting.
- Maintain and update the rebate program database covering 200+ vendor agreements, program details are accurately captured and tracked.
- Oversee and review monthly rebate calculations, ensuring journal entries and account reconciliations are completed accurately and on time.
- Review and validate high volumes of purchasing data to support accurate rebate accruals and income recognition.
- Drive and perform in-depth analytical procedures to ensure the completeness, accuracy and reasonableness of rebate postings.
- Lead monthly reviews of rebate margins by product line with the CFO and key operating leaders, providing insights, identifying trends, and supporting business decisions.
- Partner with cross-functional teams (e.g., Procurement, Finance, IT) to enhance rebate tracking and reporting capabilities.
- Develop and enhance reporting tools and dashboards to support better financial oversight of rebate programs.
- Identify process improvements, including automation of manual activities.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting policies, and audit requirements related to vendor rebates.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA preferred).
- 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 3 years in a supervisory or managerial role in a larger company ($500M+).
- Experience with vendor rebates, contract accounting, or cost/revenue accounting in a distribution or wholesale environment strongly preferred.
- Proven ability to work with large datasets and complex transactions environments.
- Advanced Excel skills required; experience with BI tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) is a plus.
- Excellent organizational, project management, communication, and leadership skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced deadline-driven environment.
