Finance Specialist
Job Purpose
The Non-Profit Finance performs accounting functions for a variety of programs and reports to the Accounting Manager. This position researches, understands, and ensures all grant invoicing is valid within contract guidelines and that reimbursement requests are booked accurately in the accounting system. The position works in a team environment, contributing to the success of and credibility of the finance department and is self motivated, adaptable to change and detail oriented.

Job Purpose
The Non-Profit Finance performs accounting functions for a variety of programs and reports to the Accounting Manager. This position researches, understands, and ensures all grant invoicing is valid within contract guidelines and that reimbursement requests are booked accurately in the accounting system. The position works in a team environment, contributing to the success of and credibility of the finance department and is self motivated, adaptable to change and detail oriented.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Process accounts payables invoices and transactions for assigned programs using SAGE Intacct.
- Verify that funding is in program budgets.
- Initiate disbursement request for management approval using SAGE Intacct workflow
- Print and mail checks and/or ACH payments attaching required documentation to vouchers/Pos.
- Process credit card statements
- Prepare various journal entries, including but not limited to, journal entries for account corrections and routine monthly allocations.
- Maintain accounts payable files with specialized documents and records related to grants information and allowable expenses.
- Perform reconciliations of general ledger accounts and prior months to ensure that all applicable expenses are captured in monthly grant reimbursement billings.
- Research invoices or expenditure discrepancies
- Prepare and review invoices , research invoice and expenditure discrepancies and submit reimbursement invoices for authorization
- Post reimbursement invoices using SAGE Intacct to record the accounts receivable and revenue
- Meet reporting deadlines, both internal and external
- May assist with posting the payment of reimbursement invoices, preparation of grant budgets and budget modifications
- Assist with other work as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- An associate degree in accounting; bachelor’s degree is desirable.
- Two years of accounting experience in an office setting, nonprofit finance administration, management and accounting experience is preferred.
- Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Experience with nonprofit grant and contract administration. Experience with, County, DSHS, and/or HRSA contracts and program income is a plus.
- Proficiency in MS Excel (intermediate to advanced) and experience with accounting software.
- Knowledge of SAGE Intacct preferred.
- Strong ability to anticipate and address problems.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills with the ability to manage and meet multiple deadlines, with a high level of attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills and an ability to work collaboratively.
- Knowledge of and interest in nonprofits and the communities they serve. Welcoming of diverse backgrounds, lifestyles, beliefs, and cultures.
