Job Details

This position will report to the Director of Accounting & Finance and work closely with other directors and team members. The Assistant Controller will undertake all aspects of financial management for an assigned diversified group of businesses, including regulatory and financial reporting, treasury functions, month-end close process, cash flow projections, budget, and forecasts preparation.


Job Duties:

  • Support Controller with financial operations of commercial property portfolio.
  • Assist with month-end closing processes, including balance sheet reconciliations and ad hoc analysis.
  • Assess revenue and expense for various profit centers across the commercial property portfolio.
  • Reconcile intercompany accounts.
  • Generate reports periodically for CPAs and lending institutions.
  • Monitor inventories and associated floorplan financing.
  • Refine financial reporting process and assist with special projects, as assigned.
  • Oversee security deposits and rent roll to financial statements for all properties and preparation and distribution of monthly financial reports, journal entries, financial statement preparation and bank reconciliations.
  • Ensure monthly/quarterly financial reporting is completed accurately and timely.
  • Annual property budgets with supporting schedules
  • Prepare and assist with all property CAM reconciliations with supporting schedules.
  • Ability to read and interpret lease verbiage as it relates to CAM and real estate tax provisions.
  • Annual 1099 preparation for properties in the portfolio.



Knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in commercial real estate accounting experience; have a firm grasp of accounting principles for partnership accounting.
  • Five plus years of commercial real estate accounting experience; have a firm grasp of accounting principles for partnership accounting.
  • Detail-oriented problem-solver who can employ leadership, critical thinking, time management and prioritization skills.
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods, lift, and move equipment up to 50 pounds.
  • Flexibility in a fast-paced environment, while maintaining a positive attitude, creativity, integrity, and accountability.
  • Willing to learn and have the ability to adjust as priorities change.
