Position Overview
The Assistant Controller will play a key role in supporting the financial operations of the organization. This position is ideal for a proactive, detail-oriented professional who thrives in a fast-paced, service-oriented environment. Reporting directly to the Controller, the Assistant Controller will assist in managing the accounting department, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and supporting internal controls and process improvements.
Key Responsibilities
Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP
Support the month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries, reconciliations, and variance analysis
Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll functions, ensuring timely and accurate processing
Maintain and improve internal controls and accounting procedures
Coordinate with external auditors during annual audits
Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis activities
Help manage cash flow and monitor key financial metrics
Work closely with department managers to provide financial insight and support decision-making
Ensure compliance with tax, regulatory, and corporate reporting requirements
Support the implementation and optimization of financial systems and tools
Supervise and mentor junior accounting staff
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA or CPA candidate preferred)
5+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally within a professional services or healthcare environment
Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting
Experience with ERP/accounting systems (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, or similar)
Proficient in Microsoft Excel and financial modeling tools
Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
