Job Details
Primary responsibilities include maintaining and overseeing the entire accounting function of the subsidiary, providing financial and other pertinent data to the Controller-KLS, company managers, and several external users including related companies, independent auditors, outside sales representatives, and financial institutions. This individual will also manage the areas of Information Technology (IT) and Human Resources (HR). Coordinates the various duties within IT and HR, utilizing both internal resources and outside service providers.
Accounting:
· Maintain accounting function of the company in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
· Extensively monitor and maintain the subsidiary modules within the accounting software system to ensure that the information produced is reliable, accurate, and efficient.
· Perform and oversee daily accounting duties relating to accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash management, payroll, and the general ledger.
· Produce accurate and timely monthly and ad hoc financial statements and other requested reports.
· Communicate with Controller - KLS any relevant information relating to corporate financial matters.
· Prepare the Annual Budget.
· Monitor budgets for each department.
· Prepare annual reports pertaining to sales and use taxes, property taxes, form 1099 recipients, and insurance renewals.
· Coordinate annual audits with independent accounting auditors, insurance auditors, and tax auditors.
· Organize annual physical inventory and make necessary adjustments to inventory based on verified counts.
· Communicate with related companies regarding intercompany transactions.
· Directly handle all matters related to the accounting software system (Chempax), including troubleshooting and performance enhancements. Coordinate outside assistance if necessary.
· Continuously evaluate and manage consulting/outsourcing relationships (IT, Attorney, Accountant, Payroll, etc.), ensuring that they are the best possible resources
· Accept responsibility for the accuracy of financial reporting.
· Consistently look for new procedures/systems to maximize efficiency and profitability throughout the company.
· Ensure that proper procedures are in place and being followed to ensure the ongoing accuracy of inventory.
Information Technology (IT):
· Manage the IT area to ensure that the network and all computer workstations are functioning properly. Coordinate new user installations, network backups, troubleshooting, functionality improvements, etc.
· Work with the IT Consultant to ensure that the network and all computer workstations are functioning properly. Coordinate new user installations, network backups, troubleshooting, functionality improvements, etc.
Human Resources (HR):
· Manage the HR area. Further develop and administer the company’s HR policies. Perform HR duties pertaining to workers compensation, unemployment compensation, employee relations, and employee health matters.
· Manage all insurance benefits matters/issues
· Responsible for On-Boarding and Exit Documentation of employees and compliance with checklists and C-TPAT.
· Prepare payroll and handle all communications with outside payroll service.
· Address payroll related matters including attendance, payroll changes, and payroll check distribution, including distribution of final check to terminated employees.
· Perform background checks on employment candidates who are interviewed and considered for a position.
· Handle all duties involving workers compensation and unemployment issues.
· Maintain OSHA injury reporting logs (300, 300A, and 301) as required by law. Handle OSHA related matters. Post OSHA reports as required.
· Maintain personnel files, employee lists, and benefit summaries.
· Maintain job descriptions.
Desired Skills and Qualifications
· Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in accounting
· Experience: 5 years of relevant experience in accounting or finance, preferably in a manufacturing industry.
· Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of accounting principles and regulations.
· Technical Proficiency: Advanced skills in Microsoft office, particularly MS Excel.
· Organizational Skills: Highly organized with exception follow-through and attention to detail.
· Team Player: Works effectively in a collaborative, team-oriented setting.
