We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Assistant Controller to join our rapidly growing client in Property and Casualty Insurance. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing the preparation of financial statements in both STAT and GAAP, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis. Your role will be crucial in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our financial data, compliance with financial regulations, and assisting the Controller in all aspects of financial management.

Job Details

Responsibilities:

1. Assisting in the preparation of financial statements in compliance with official guidelines and requirements.
2. Managing journal entries, invoices etc. and reconciling accounts for the monthly or annual closing.
3. Supporting most aspects of accounting management (billing, tax forms, reporting etc.).
4. Assisting in the formulation of internal controls and policies to comply with legislation and established best practices.
5. Assisting in the preparation of budgets or forecasts.
6. Participating in preparation for the annual audit.
7. Helping in development of reports for management or regulatory bodies.
8. Reviewing the company's accounting information to identify and resolve inaccuracies or imbalances.
9. Utilizing accounting IT system to facilitate processes and maintain records.
10. Assisting the Controller in presenting reports to senior executives, stakeholders, and board members.

Qualifications:

1. Proven experience as assistant controller or other similar position.
2. Solid knowledge of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and Statutory Reporting (Yellow Book).
3. Excellent knowledge of accounting and financial processes (budgeting, financial closure, reporting etc.).
4. Understanding of data analysis and forecasting.
5. Working knowledge of MS Office (especially Excel) and accounting software (e.g. NetSuite).
6. Well-organized with ability to prioritize.
7. Very good communication and interpersonal skills.
8. Attention to detail and problem-solving ability.
9. BSc/BA in accounting, finance or relevant field is required.
10. Professional certification (e.g. CPA) is a plus.
11. Minimum of 5 years experience in STAT Reporting, Insurance Accounting, and Statutory Reporting.
