Job Details
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Public Accountant to join our dynamic team. This is a unique opportunity to apply your financial expertise in the fast-paced, challenging, and rewarding financial industry. The ideal candidate will bring a strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting, along with a proven ability to manage complex financial tasks and projects. This role is particularly suitable for those who have achieved the CPCU (Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter) and AIAF (Associate in Insurance Accounting and Finance) designations.
Responsibilities:
1. Oversee and manage daily accounting operations including Billing, A/R, A/P, GL, Cost Accounting, and Revenue Recognition.
2. Coordinate and direct the preparation of the budget, financial forecasts, and report variances.
3. Prepare and publish timely monthly financial statements.
4. Coordinate the preparation of regulatory reporting.
5. Research technical accounting issues for compliance.
6. Support month-end and year-end close process.
7. Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting.
8. Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
9. Liaise with our Finance manager and Accounting manager to improve financial procedures.
10. Participate in financial standards setting and in forecast process.
11. Provide input into department’s goal setting process.
12. Assist in the formulation of internal controls and policies to comply with legislation and established best practices.
13. Assist in the preparation of financial statements in compliance with official guidelines and requirements.
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. Advanced degree or professional accounting certification preferred.
2. 2+ years of experience in accounting or a related field.
3. Demonstrated experience with CPCU and AIAF, or equivalent preferred.
4. Proficient in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite.
5. Strong understanding of accounting and financial reporting principles and practices.
6. Excellent problem-solving skills and strong attention to detail.
7. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
8. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
9. Strong ethical standards and high levels of integrity.
10. Ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks and meet all deadlines.
11. Strong skills in organization and planning, demonstrated ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment and problem solving.
12. Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
13. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization.
