We are a leading law firm in the legal industry, seeking a dynamic and experienced Associate Attorney to join our Civil Litigation Defense team. This is a permanent position, offering an opportunity to work in a fast-paced, challenging environment where you can grow professionally and contribute to the success of our firm. The successful candidate will have a strong background in civil litigation defense, with a particular emphasis on complex litigation matters.
Responsibilities:
As an Associate Attorney in our Civil Litigation Defense team, you will be responsible for:
1. Managing a caseload involving civil litigation matters, from inception through resolution.
2. Drafting pleadings, motions, and appellate documents, and filing them with the court.
3. Performing legal research and analysis, and developing litigation strategies.
4. Conducting discovery, including drafting discovery requests, reviewing and analyzing responses, and taking and defending depositions.
5. Representing clients in court and advocating on their behalf during trials, hearings, arbitrations, and mediations.
6. Negotiating settlements on behalf of clients in an effort to resolve matters favorably.
7. Maintaining regular communication with clients, keeping them informed about the progress of their cases.
8. Collaborating with other attorneys in the firm to ensure a comprehensive defense strategy is implemented.
9. Staying current with the latest developments in civil litigation defense, and applying this knowledge to your work.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate for this position will have the following qualifications:
1. Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
2. Admitted to practice law in Illinois (IL) and Missouri (MO).
3. A minimum of 5 years of experience in civil litigation defense, with a proven track record of success.
4. Exceptional legal research and writing skills.
5. Strong negotiation skills, with the ability to resolve disputes favorably for clients.
6. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to effectively communicate with clients, opposing counsel, and court personnel.
7. Ability to work independently, manage a large caseload, and meet deadlines.
8. Detail-oriented, with strong organizational skills.
9. Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
10. Strong ethical standards and a commitment to providing high-quality legal representation to clients.
