The selected candidate will be responsible for handling a wide range of legal matters, including litigation, contract negotiation, public policy development, and legal consultation. Responsibilities:
- Represent public entities in complex litigation matters, including but not limited to, constitutional claims, torts, civil rights, and employment law claims.
- Provide legal advice and guidance to public entities on a variety of issues, including but not limited to, public meetings, public records, land use, environmental law, contracts, and employment matters.
- Draft, review, and negotiate contracts and other legal documents on behalf of public entities.
- Develop and implement public policies and procedures in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Conduct legal research and analysis on a variety of topics related to municipal law and public entity defense.
- Prepare and present legal reports, opinions, and briefs.
- Attend meetings, hearings, and other events as a representative of public entities.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of laws, regulations, and court decisions affecting public entities.
- Collaborate with other attorneys, paralegals, and staff to ensure effective and efficient legal services.
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in municipal law and public entity defense.
- Admission to the state bar.
- Strong knowledge of laws, regulations, and court decisions affecting public entities.
- Excellent legal research, analysis, and writing skills.
- Strong negotiation and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to handle a diverse caseload and work independently.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion.
- Demonstrated commitment to public service and the legal profession.
