Job Details

Responsibilities:

As an Associate Attorney, you will be responsible for:

  • Representing clients in all stages of litigation, from initiation to trial.
  • Managing a caseload of workers comp, med mal, and insurance defense cases.
  • Conducting and managing discovery.
  • Drafting and arguing motions.
  • Preparing for and participating in trials as first chair or second chair.
  • Negotiating settlements for disputes.
  • Conducting legal research and drafting legal documents.
  • Collaborating with other attorneys to develop defense strategies.
  • Ensuring compliance with all legal standards and regulations.
  • Maintaining client relationships and providing excellent customer service.
  • Keeping abreast of legal developments to ensure the most effective defense strategies for our clients.

Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience as an attorney, with a focus on workers comp, med mal, insurance defense, and claim handling.
  • Active membership in the Nebraska Bar and Iowa State Bar.
  • Proven trial experience, with the ability to serve as first chair or second chair.
  • Strong experience in complex litigation and claim defense.
  • Excellent legal research and writing skills.
  • Ability to manage a large caseload and work under pressure.
  • Strong negotiation skills and the ability to resolve disputes effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • High ethical standards and professional integrity.
  • Proficiency in legal software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
