Job Details:
We are currently seeking an experienced and dynamic Permanent Associate Chief Medical Informatics Officer (ACMIO) to join our tech services team. The ACMIO will serve as a key leader in managing and directing our medical informatics strategies and initiatives. This is an exceptional opportunity to work in a high-growth tech environment, where you will be responsible for shaping the future of healthcare technology. The ACMIO will work closely with our senior leadership team to ensure the effective use of technology to support clinical decision-making, improve patient outcomes, and drive operational efficiency.
Education
MD or DO degree
Minimum Experience/Knowledge
Minimum of 4 Years Experience as a physician leader with progressive leadership responsibilities.
Active medical practice within 12 months preferred.
Experience in medical informatics, clinical systems implementation, process re-design and change management associated with the introduction of IT to clinical culture.
Familiarity with health IT products and medical informatics trends and tools.
Practical experience in design and implementation and optimization of health information technology systems.
Experience in quality, performance improvement and outcomes management.
Experience in leading organizational change preferably including the implementation or optimization of an electronic medical record system across a multi-facility organization.
Possesses outstanding interpersonal skills and able to communicate and engage effectively with attending physicians, fellows, residents, nurses, pharmacists, clerks, administrators, IT personnel and other clinical and non-clinical staff.
Listens well and facilitates informed decision making through verbal and written communication.
Possesses analytical understanding of clinical workflow and is knowledgeable about the application of Clinical Decision Support in support of efficient, high quality repetitive and reliable delivery of care.
Able to articulate and demonstrate the benefits and limitations of technical solutions in various clinical and non-clinical settings.
Cerner / Oracle Health experience preferred.
Licenses/Certifications
Licensed to practice medicine in CA or license must be obtained within 180 days of hire.
Board certified in an ACGME recognized specialty.
Board certified in Clinical Informatics or a related degree (as MBA / MPH / MHA / MMM / Informatics) preferred.
Accountabilities
The ACMIO will primarily report to the CMIO and maintain a dotted line to a Keck School of Medicine clinical chair.
The ACMIO will work at least 4 days (32 hours) a week (Mon – Fri) in information services activities and may engage the remaining 1 day (8 hours) a week in clinical duties or other Keck School of Medicine activities.
This is a hybrid position that will include in person and possibly remote days options as assigned by the CMIO.
The ACMIO will provide clinical informatics services across Keck Medicine of USC facilities as assigned by the CMIO.
Adheres to high ethical standards and keeps commitments. Collaboratively lead, solicit input and represents providers, clinicians, patients and business needs and wishes.
Promote system thinking while effectively and respectively listening and responding to requests, inquiries and complaints.
Leverage clinical data and effective presentation skills while promoting teamwork and cross departmental collaborations.
Participates in and leads advisory and work groups and builds trusting relationships with physicians, nurses, clinicians and business leaders and staff.
Lead and coordinate transformation of clinical care through the advanced use of information and technology.
Provide clinical leadership to improve provider’s engagement with clinical information systems.
Enable training and continued education by working with the Information Services training team and by educating clinicians on the appropriate use of information technology and by providing peer to peer support when needed.
Support other IT leaders in relationship with hospital leadership, medical school leadership and community practice leaders.
Other duties as assigned.
