Job Details
Responsibilities:
1. Represent clients in court or before government agencies, presenting evidence to defend or prosecute in civil or criminal litigation.
2. Prepare and draft legal documents, such as wills, deeds, patent applications, mortgages, leases, and contracts.
3. Conduct legal research to support a legal proceeding, to formulate a defense, or to initiate legal action.
4. Provide expert legal advice to clients on their legal rights and obligations.
5. Interpret laws, rulings, and regulations for individuals and businesses.
6. Negotiate settlements in civil disputes.
7. Prepare, file, and argue motions and briefs in court proceedings.
8. Collaborate with team members, paralegals, and other staff to ensure the best representation for every client.
9. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of current legislation and case law.
Qualifications:
1. Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
2. Licensed to practice law in the state of Iowa.
3. Minimum of 5 years of experience as a practicing attorney.
4. Proven trial and courtroom experience.
5. Excellent legal research and writing skills.
6. Proficient in drafting and filing motions and briefs.
7. Extensive experience in litigation.
8. Ability to provide sound legal advice to clients.
9. Strong negotiation and communication skills.
10. Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
11. High ethical standards and professionalism.
