The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of commercial insurance policies, reinsurance, and policy interpretation. This role demands an individual who is capable of handling complex insurance disputes, preparing for trials, and making court appearances. The Permanent Attorney will play an integral role in our legal team, offering expert advice on a wide range of insurance-related issues. The successful candidate must have a JD and at least 5 years of relevant experience.

Job Details

Responsibilities:

1. Provide coverage counsel and advice on a wide variety of insurance policies and disputes.
2. Handle all aspects of insurance litigation, including the preparation of pleadings, motions, and interrogatories.
3. Draft and interpret complex commercial insurance policies and reinsurance contracts.
4. Prepare and issue detailed coverage opinions and Coverage Position Letters.
5. Effectively manage and conduct depositions and trial preparations.
6. Make court appearances and represent the company in all legal proceedings.
7. Collaborate with the legal team and other departments to manage risk and ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
8. Stay updated on current laws, regulations, and industry trends related to insurance and reinsurance.
9. Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients and provide them with expert legal advice and guidance.

Qualifications:

1. Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
2. A minimum of 5 years of experience in insurance litigation and coverage counsel.
3. Proficient in drafting and interpreting commercial insurance policies and reinsurance contracts.
4. Extensive experience in trial preparation, depositions, court appearances, and handling interrogatories.
5. Proven track record in drafting coverage opinions and Coverage Position Letters.
6. Solid understanding of policy interpretation and coverage litigation.
7. Exceptional analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
8. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
9. Strong attention to detail and the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
10. Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment.
11. Must be a licensed attorney in good standing with the state bar.
