Jobot has partnered with a global leader in the oil and gas industry. The Automation Engineer will be part of a Controls team developing automated/robotic equipment for the drilling industry. This position will focus on new product development projects, interface with customers in various stages of the project, be a mentor to junior engineers and provide technical consulting, develop electrical and controls system design solutions based on engineering principles, and provide level 3 technical support to external and internal customers.

Responsibilities:
1. Design, develop, and implement automation systems to enhance efficiency, productivity, and safety in our operations.
2. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand operational needs and develop automation solutions.
3. Write and modify PLC code using Beckhoff TwinCAT 3, RSlogix 5000, and other relevant software.
4. Troubleshoot and maintain robotic systems, servo controls, and other automated equipment.
5. Design and develop HMI interfaces using Rockwell and other relevant software.
6. Develop and maintain electrical schematics, control panels, motor control centers, and other electrical controls.
7. Provide technical support and training to operational staff on the use of automated systems.
8. Keep up-to-date with the latest automation technologies and industry trends.
9. Ensure compliance with all safety and regulatory standards.
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a related field.
2. A minimum of 3 years of experience as an Automation Engineer, preferably in the energy industry.
3. Solid experience with PLC code, robotics, and knowledge of mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
4. Proficiency in Beckhoff TwinCAT 3, RSlogix 5000, Rockwell, VFD, HMI, and servo controls.
5. Strong skills in electrical controls, including electrical schematics, control panels, instruments, and motor control centers.
6. Proficient in PLC/HMI hardware and software.
7. Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex automation systems.
8. Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team.
9. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
10. Strong commitment to safety and regulatory compliance.
