Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
As an HR Specialist, this role provides vital HR support to our organization, primarily focusing on compliance, employee relations, and administrative tasks. This position is designed as an entry-level role, with the potential to advance to a more comprehensive HR Generalist role. The HR Specialist reports directly to the Human Resources Manager.
Assist with regular communication with company leaders and local HR/Payroll representatives, providing support on HR-related issues.
Offer initial guidance on employee relations, performance management, and employment terminations, referring complex cases to senior HR staff.
Provide assistance in applying Federal and State labor and employment laws, as well as company policies and procedures, ensuring compliance.
Support the identification of training and development needs and work closely with the HR Manager to facilitate necessary training.
Help with the administration of reasonable accommodations and the interactive process under the ADA.
Collect and analyze HR data, including employee satisfaction surveys, exit interviews, and turnover statistics, and provide insights for improvement.
Participate in investigations of HR-related complaints, ensuring thorough documentation of the process and outcomes.
Assist with the development and updating of job descriptions, human resources policies, procedures, and related documents/forms.
Conduct audits on selected HR activities, such as personnel files and HR policies/processes, to ensure consistency and compliance.
Act as a cultural champion by promoting and embodying the organization's core values.
Assist with EEO compliance efforts.
Provide support for biweekly payroll processing for a small group of employees.
Perform any other responsibilities as assigned.
Education and Work Experience:
Requirements:
Bilingual in Spanish and English, able to communicate fluently in both languages.
Valid CA drivers' license with the ability to drive and operate a company vehicle
Intermediate Microsoft excel skills

Strong knowledge of employment laws.
Demonstrates proactive follow-up on assignments without needing direction.
Possesses effective coaching and advisory skills, translating HR knowledge into successful issue resolution.
Ability to positively interact with employees at all levels.
Experience with Benefits, Recruiting, FMLA/CFRA, and HRIS system implementation is a plus.
Qualifications:
PHR OR SHRM-CP/SCP preferred
2-4 years’ experience in the HR
Knowledge of Labor Law and Cal-OSHA regulations
Human Resource experience in the Agricultural industry preferred
MS Office applications (Excel, Word and Outlook)
Education:
Some College and/or Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred
Physical Requirements and Work Conditions:
Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards
Must be able to lift and carry up to 20 lbs.
Must be able to talk, listen and speak clearly on telephone
Must be able to sit for short and long periods of time traveling from site to site
Must be able to drive company vehicle and get in/out of vehicle throughout the day
