Job Details

Position Overview: The Operations Manager will serve as the right-hand person to the CEO and play a pivotal role in driving the company’s growth strategy. This individual will be responsible for managing day-to-day operations while overseeing both field employees and administrative/accounting staff. The primary focus will be on sales, business development, and expanding the company's footprint in the market, driving a revenue growth target of 15-17% year-over-year.
In addition to overseeing the company's operational efficiency, the Operations Manager will lead efforts in business development, customer relationship management, financial oversight, and project management, ensuring that all projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:

Business Development & Sales:
o Drive new business development by identifying and pursuing new opportunities with both existing and potential clients in the civil construction and underground cable services sector.
o Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including major telecom companies like Cox, CenturyLink, and others.
o Collaborate with the CEO to develop sales strategies and growth initiatives, contributing to a target revenue increase of 15-17% annually.
o Lead the preparation and submission of bids for new projects, ensuring accuracy, competitiveness, and alignment with client needs.

Operations Management:
o Oversee the daily operations of the company, managing field teams and administrative/accounting staff to ensure maximum productivity and efficiency.
o Monitor and enforce compliance with company standards, safety protocols, and regulatory requirements.
o Maintain project timelines and ensure all projects are delivered on schedule and within budget. Perform progress reporting to track project status and provide updates to clients and internal stakeholders.
o Develop and implement operational processes that improve overall efficiency, reduce costs, and optimize resource allocation.

Financial Oversight & Reporting:
o Work closely with accounting and finance teams to monitor and analyze financial performance, including overseeing the budgeting and forecasting process.
o Review and approve financial statements, ensuring the company is meeting its financial goals and targets.
o Utilize QuickBooks for financial management, ensuring accurate accounting and timely reporting.
o Drive profitability by identifying opportunities for cost savings, margin improvement, and operational efficiencies.

Leadership & Decision-Making:
o Act as a trusted advisor to the CEO, providing guidance and support on critical business decisions, including operational improvements, sales strategies, and long-term planning.
o Lead, motivate, and mentor a high-performing team, ensuring effective communication and alignment across departments.
o Make tough decisions when necessary, demonstrating confidence in managing conflict, resolving issues, and balancing competing priorities.

Client & Project Management:
o Ensure successful execution of projects, from bidding to completion, with a focus on customer satisfaction, quality control, and timely delivery.
o Provide regular updates to clients on project status, handling progress reports, change orders, and any challenges that arise during project execution.
o Manage project budgets and timelines to ensure the company’s projects are executed efficiently and profitably.
Qualifications:

Experience: Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in civil construction operations management, with a strong focus on business development, sales, and project management. Experience working with underground cable services for telecom providers is highly preferred.
  • Leadership: Proven track record of leading teams and managing cross-functional departments, including field teams, administrative staff, and financial teams.
  • Sales & Business Development: Strong background in identifying and securing new business, as well as managing client relationships. Experience with bidding and preparing proposals for construction projects is a plus.
  • Financial Acumen: Strong understanding of financial management, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting. Proficiency in QuickBooks or similar accounting software is required.
  • Project Management: Experience in overseeing construction projects from inception to completion, with an ability to monitor project timelines, budgets, and deliverables.
  • Decision-Making & Problem-Solving: Ability to make difficult decisions under pressure, with a focus on driving results and overcoming obstacles.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Construction Management, or a related field. An MBA or relevant certifications in project management or business development are a plus.
  • Skills:
o Strong communication and negotiation skills.
o Bilingual in Spanish/English
o Highly organized and detail-oriented.
o Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and QuickBooks.
o Ability to handle multiple priorities and manage complex projects.
o Strong understanding of safety protocols and regulations in construction.
