Job Details

We’re seeking a Building Automation Project Engineer who will guide sophisticated BAS (Building Automation Systems) projects from concept to completion. You’ll act as the technical lead, coordinating with clients, teams, and trades to ensure seamless delivery, operational excellence, and future-ready automation systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the design, engineering, and commissioning of building automation systems, collaborating with internal teams and stakeholders.
  • Develop project plans, budgets, schedules, and technical scopes.
  • Provide mentorship to junior engineers and coordinate cross-discipline efforts with mechanical, electrical, and controls technicians.
  • Conduct system design reviews, inspect installation quality, and troubleshoot issues during commissioning.
  • Interface with clients to define needs, deliver technical presentations, and ensure client satisfaction.
  • Adhere to safety and quality standards, contributing to procedures and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Support proposals and pre-construction estimations for BAS projects.

Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in HVAC, Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering—or a closely related field.
  • Experience: Proven ability leading BAS or building controls projects; familiar with project scheduling, budgeting, and team management.
  • Strong knowledge of building automation platforms (e.g. BAS controllers, BACnet systems).
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and presentation skills.
  • Comfortable working in both field and office settings; willing to travel locally within Duluth for site visits.
  • Safety-minded with a track record of compliance and fostering a culture of quality.
Preferred Skills
  • Experience with pre-construction and estimation processes.
  • Background in programming logic for HVAC systems.
  • Certifications in BAS technologies or relevant safety/industry standards.
