Job Details
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Assisting businesses to prevent, navigate, and resolve complex legal issues.
- Minimize and mitigate the financial burden created by estate, gift, and other transfer taxes.
- Improve and maintain liquidity.
- Sustain organizational continuity in management.
- Equitable and adequate financial support consideration for family members and other beneficiaries potentially including key employees.
- Drafting, reviewing, completing, and filing legal paperwork related to business operations.
- Examining and reporting any potential or existing legal issues to the relevant authorities.
- Negotiating contract terms, transactions, and settlements on behalf of the businesses involved.
- Ensuring all business processes, strategies, and actions comply with all relevant local, state, federal, and international laws.
- Managing multiple clients, cases, and legal activities that carry varying deadlines.
- Defend tax positions under federal and state audit and interact with taxing authorities to understand, discuss and assist in bringing resolution to complex issues.
- Respond to information document requests in a clear and concise manner.
- Build relationships with internal Tax, Finance, Legal, HR, and business leaders as well as external advisors to ensure complete and timely flow of information and effective resolution of tax audits.
- Assist with US domestic income tax matters, including data gathering, research and analysis of applicable tax laws, and ensuring company compliance with tax reporting/filing requirements.
- Advise cross-functional teams and other departments on the tax impacts of business transactions.
- Compose correspondence, opinions and memoranda involving all areas of federal, state and local, and international taxation.
