Job Details
The Buyer plays a key role on a small, collaborative team, supporting day-to-day manufacturing through timely, cost-effective purchasing of materials, MRO, and operating supplies. This position blends transactional buying with inventory planning and material flow strategy.

- Manage purchasing for assigned materials/components to support production demand
- Execute POs, releases, and schedule changes based on MRP and production plans
- Maintain inventory levels balancing service, lead time, and cash flow
- Manage blanket orders, safety stock, and reorder points
- Act as primary contact for assigned suppliers
- Track performance across delivery, quality, and cost
- Resolve shortages, quality issues, and delivery challenges
- Support sourcing and supplier transitions as needed
- Partner with Manufacturing, Planning, Engineering, Quality, and Finance
- Participate in demand/supply reviews to identify risks
- Support new product launches and engineering changes
- Identify cost savings, lead time reductions, and inventory improvements
- Analyze purchasing data for trends and opportunities
- Support process improvements and workflow efficiencies
- Assist with standard work documentation
- Ensure adherence to internal policies and purchasing standards
- Maintain accurate supplier, pricing, and lead-time data in ERP
- Support inventory accuracy and reporting efforts
- Bachelor’s degree preferred (Supply Chain, Business, or related)
- 3–5 years of purchasing/supply chain experience in manufacturing
- Strong MRP, inventory, and ERP system knowledge
- Analytical, organized, and able to manage multiple priorities
- Advanced communication skills
- Experience in discrete or make-to-order manufacturing
- Familiarity with inventory optimization methods (EOQ, safety stock, reorder points)
