We are seeking a highly experienced and detail-oriented Permanent CFO for our Commercial Construction division. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in the construction industry and will be responsible for overseeing all financial operations and strategies of the company. This is a critical role that will directly contribute to our company’s financial success and growth. The CFO will be responsible for managing the company’s finances, including financial planning, management of financial risks, record-keeping, financial reporting, and analysis of data. This role requires a strategic thinker with a clear understanding of financial trends, budget management, and construction industry dynamics.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all company accounting practices, including accounting departments, preparing budgets, financial reports, tax and audit functions.
  • Direct financial strategy, planning and forecasts; conferring with the president, VP and board members on strategic growth/ scaling plans.
  • Study, analyze and report on trends, opportunities for expansion and projection of future company growth.
  • Develop and implement the company's financial goals and align them with the company's plan for growth.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation, anticipating future legislation, and advising management on needed actions.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with financial institutions, auditors, insurance companies, etc.
  • Oversee the investment of funds and manage associated risks, supervise cash management activities, execute capital-raising strategies to support a firm's expansion, and deal with mergers and acquisitions.
  • Coordinate with external auditors and manage internal controls.
  • Understand and mitigate key elements of the company's risk profile and ensure that the company complies with all legal and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. A Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA) or relevant field is preferred.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) designation is required.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience as a CFO or in a similar role in the construction industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of corporate financial law and risk management practices.
  • Proficient in the use of MS Office and financial management software.
  • Strong knowledge of all aspects of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
  • Excellent organizational, leadership, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organization skills.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Proven strategic planning experience at the management level.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage well through ambiguity and complexity.
  • Ability to execute and follow-through to completion and documentation.
