We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join our executive team. You will play a critical role in driving our financial operations and strategy, overseeing all financial administration, business planning, and budgeting. The successful candidate will be a hands-on and participative manager, leading and developing an internal team to support finance, business planning, and budgeting. As a member of our senior management team, the CFO will work closely with a motivated and engaged finance committee of the board of directors.

Responsibilities:

1. Provide overall leadership and vision for the Finance Department, ensuring the overall financial health of the organization.
2. Collaborate with the C-suite and board of directors to develop and implement financial strategies that support the organization's mission, growth, and sustainability.
3. Lead the finance team, setting department goals and monitoring performance.
4. Ensure the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements and reports.
5. Champion the organization's vision, mission, and values within the finance department.
6. Maximize billable service opportunities and ensure timely billing of all reimbursable services.
7. Develop and track key financial metrics across the organization.
8. Establish and maintain robust internal controls and financial procedures.
9. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local financial regulations.
10. Interface with and manage relationships with all financial vendors.
11. Liaison with the Audit Committee, Board Treasurer, and Investment Committee to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting and strategy development.
12. Manage and ensure comprehensive risk mitigation through securing and maintaining the organization's commercial insurance coverage.
13. Oversee human resources functions for the finance department, including staff selection, training, and performance evaluations.
14. Regularly communicate with the CEO about finance needs, project status, and ongoing projects.

Qualifications:

1. A minimum of 5 years of senior financial leadership experience.
2. A proven track record of success facilitating progressive organizational change and development within a growing organization.
3. Excellent judgment and creative problem-solving skills.
4. Strong mentoring, coaching experience to a team with diverse levels of expertise.
5. Entrepreneurial team player who can multitask.
6. Superior management skills; ability to influence and engage direct and indirect reports and peers.
7. Exceptional written, oral, interpersonal, and presentation skills and the ability to effectively interface with senior management, the organization’s board of directors, and staff.
8. Ability to operate as an effective tactical as well as strategic thinker.
9. Demonstrated experience in financial management and accounting, ideally in the nonprofit sector.
10. Experience should include legal, audit, compliance, budget, and resource development.
11. Demonstrated resourcefulness in setting priorities, proposing new ways of creating efficiencies, and guiding investment in people and systems.
12. Technologically savvy, with experience overseeing information technology staff or vendors.
13. Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and a commitment to the organization’s mission.
14. A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field is required. An MBA, CPA, or related degree is highly desirable.
