Our organization is seeking a dynamic and experienced Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to lead our finance department. This full-time, permanent position is an excellent opportunity for a finance professional with a strong background in the non-profit sector. The CFO will play a critical role in strategic decision making and operations as they relate to budget management, cost-benefit analysis, forecasting needs, and the securing of new funding.

Responsibilities:

As a Chief Financial Officer, your responsibilities will include:

1. Oversee all financial operations and direct corporate financial planning and structure.
2. Coordinate, analyze and report the financial performance to Management and Board of Directors (financial performance, projections and other special projects as required).
3. Prepare short and long-term financial forecasts of financial performance for use with internal management and external parties.
4. Oversee audit and tax functions, coordinate activities with outside audit firms and review firms' performance.
5. Develop, implement and maintain accounting and administrative policies and procedures for a wide-ranging set of activities including financial accounting and reporting, employee relations (hiring/terminating policies) and other corporate policies.
6. Proficiency in all aspects of corporate accounting and all pertinent GAAP, SEC rules and regulations including Sarbanes-Oxley compliance.
7. Responsible for all corporate and human resource activities including employee benefits, retirement plans, corporate insurance and related activities. This includes the coordination of these activities with all satellite offices as well.
8. You must have experience with creating financial statements, cash flow management, collections, internal and external audit, variance analysis, grant accounting, fund accounting, and 403b.
9. Manage the budgeting process and the implementation of budgets for all departments.
10. Ensure that effective internal controls are in place and ensure compliance with GAAP and applicable federal, state and local regulatory laws and rules for financial and tax reporting.

Qualifications:

To be considered for the Chief Financial Officer position, you must have the following:

1. A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting; MBA or CPA highly preferred.
2. At least 5 years of experience in a senior financial managerial position, ideally in the non-profit sector.
3. Proven experience in financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting.
4. Extensive knowledge and experience in dealing with 403b plans, grant accounting, and fund accounting.
5. Solid experience in coordinating audit activities and managing reporting, budget development and analysis, accounts payable and receivable, general ledger, payroll, and accounting for investments.
6. A track record in grants management as it relates to compliance and reporting of government, corporate, and foundation grants is essential.
7. Technology savvy with experience selecting and overseeing software installations and managing relationships with software vendors; advanced knowledge of accounting and reporting software.
8. Excellent communication and leadership skills are mandatory.
9. Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service.
10. Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices.
