About the Civil/Structural Division:
The Civil/Structural Division delivers innovative and technically complex engineering solutions for district energy utility distribution systems supporting university campuses, healthcare institutions, and government facilities. Our work includes site development, thermal and power utility infrastructure, and highly coordinated phasing plans that support large-scale campus expansions and long-term sustainability initiatives.
Position: Civil Engineering Leader – Utilities & Campus Infrastructure
We are seeking a strategic and technically driven Civil Engineering Leader to oversee the planning, design, and execution of civil and utility infrastructure projects within our Civil/Structural Division. This leadership role is responsible for managing high-impact projects from concept through construction, mentoring team members, and collaborating with multi-disciplinary engineering teams to deliver integrated design solutions for institutional clients.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide technical oversight and project leadership for the design of site development, utility distribution systems, stormwater management, and civil infrastructure for campus-scale projects.
Lead the development of construction documentation using AutoCAD Civil 3D, including site plans, utility profiles, phasing strategies, erosion control, and traffic/pedestrian plans.
Direct cross-disciplinary coordination with structural, mechanical, and electrical engineers to ensure cohesive design integration.
Conduct site investigations and construction phase oversight to ensure compliance with design intent, quality, and safety standards.
Mentor and guide junior engineers, co-ops, and interns, fostering technical growth and professional development.
Serve as a primary point of contact for clients, managing relationships and delivering solutions that align with institutional priorities and sustainability goals.
Contribute to division growth by identifying process improvements, advancing design practices, and supporting business development efforts.
Qualifications:
Required:
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline from an accredited institution
Licensed Professional Engineer (PE)
10+ years of experience in civil engineering with a focus on utility infrastructure, site design, and campus or institutional projects
Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D for civil design and documentation
Strong leadership, project management, and communication skills
Proven ability to work in collaborative, multi-disciplinary environments
Preferred:
Experience working on district energy, thermal utilities, or campus-wide infrastructure systems
Familiarity with sustainable infrastructure planning and permitting
Experience mentoring or managing engineering staff
Master’s degree or relevant certifications (e.g., LEED AP, ENV SP)
