Civil Litigation Paralegal
Asheville, NC (Hybrid)

Our downtown Asheville office is seeking an experienced Civil Litigation Paralegal to join our growing defense litigation team. This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented legal professional who enjoys working on complex cases, collaborating closely with attorneys, and playing a critical role in every phase of litigation.

As a valued member of our team, you will support attorneys in the management of civil litigation matters from initial investigation through trial. The ideal candidate is highly organized, proactive, and comfortable handling a diverse workload in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

What You'll Do
Conduct factual investigations and gather information critical to case strategy and defense.
Interview witnesses and prepare detailed summaries and reports.
Review, organize, and analyze medical records and prepare comprehensive medical chronologies.
Perform Rule 414 medical expense calculations and damages analysis.
Conduct social media, public records, and other investigative research.
Assist with written discovery, including drafting responses and organizing supporting documentation.
Prepare clear and concise summaries of depositions, hearings, medical records, and other case materials.
Draft correspondence, pleadings, motions, subpoenas, and other litigation-related documents.
Perform legal research and assist attorneys with case law and procedural issues.
Coordinate and assist with deposition, mediation, hearing, and trial preparation.
Maintain electronic case files and document databases.
Accurately record billable time and support client reporting requirements.

What You'll Bring
Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook, Adobe Acrobat, and electronic document management systems.
Advanced internet, records, and legal research skills.
Exceptional written communication, proofreading, and organizational abilities.
Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines in a litigation environment.
Working knowledge of legal terminology, court procedures, and civil litigation practices.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to review legal and medical documents for accuracy and relevance.
A meticulous attention to detail paired with a collaborative, team-first mindset.
Qualifications

Required
Paralegal certificate or a minimum of two years of experience as a paralegal or legal assistant in a litigation practice.

Preferred
Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience working with Adobe-based document workflows and electronic document management platforms.
Exposure to construction-related disputes, complex litigation, or insurance defense matters is a plus.
