We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Civil Rights Attorney to join our dynamic, fast-paced legal team. This role is permanent and offers a unique opportunity to advocate for the rights and liberties of individuals and groups. You will be responsible for handling a diverse caseload, including drafting motions, ex-parte applications, summary judgments, and appellate briefs, as well as managing electronic filings. This role requires a minimum of 5+ years of experience in the legal industry with a focus on civil rights law.

Job Details

Responsibilities:

As a Civil Rights Attorney, you will be expected to:

1. Represent clients in court or before government agencies, presenting evidence to defend clients or prosecute defendants in civil litigation.

2. Prepare legal documents, including briefs, pleadings, appeals, wills, contracts, and real estate closing statements.

3. Conduct research and analysis of legal problems to interpret laws, rulings, and regulations for individuals and businesses.

4. Draft motions, ex-parte applications, summary judgments, and appellate briefs in a timely manner.

5. Manage all aspects of the discovery process, including taking and defending depositions, propounding and responding to discovery requests, and negotiating and drafting settlement agreements.

6. Maintain up-to-date knowledge on all civil rights laws, court decisions, and regulations that could affect your clients' cases.

7. Advocate for the civil rights of individuals and groups, working toward legal and systemic changes that promote equality and justice.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate for the Civil Rights Attorney position should possess:

1. A Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

2. Admission to the state bar and good standing.

3. A minimum of 5+ years of experience in civil rights law, with a proven track record of success.

4. Proficiency in drafting motions, ex-parte applications, summary judgments, and appellate briefs.

5. Experience with electronic filing in federal and state courts.

6. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with clients, witnesses, colleagues, and other parties.

7. Strong research and analytical skills, with a keen attention to detail.

8. Demonstrated commitment to civil rights and social justice issues.

9. The ability to manage multiple tasks and cases simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.

10. High ethical standards and professional integrity.
