Job Details
Position Overview: As a Collections Attorney, you will play a pivotal role in representing our clients in various debt collection matters. You will be responsible for providing legal advice, negotiating settlements, and representing our clients in court when necessary. The ideal candidate should possess strong legal acumen, excellent negotiation skills, and a commitment to upholding ethical debt collection practices.
Key Responsibilities:
Debt Collection: Handle a portfolio of debt collection cases for clients, including reviewing and analyzing debt documentation, sending demand letters, and initiating legal action when necessary.
Legal Research: Conduct legal research to stay updated on relevant laws and regulations related to debt collection, consumer protection, and fair debt practices.
Negotiation: Negotiate with debtors, opposing counsel, and other parties involved in debt collection cases to reach favorable settlements and repayment arrangements.
Court Representation: Represent clients in court proceedings, including filing lawsuits, attending hearings, and arguing cases before judges and arbitrators.
Documentation: Prepare legal documents, including complaints, motions, and legal briefs, ensuring accuracy and compliance with all legal requirements.
Client Communication: Maintain regular communication with clients to provide updates on case progress, discuss strategy, and address client concerns.
Compliance: Ensure all debt collection practices adhere to federal and state laws, regulations, and ethical guidelines, including the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) and other relevant statutes.
Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and organized case files, records, and billing information.
Qualifications:
Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school and admission to the state bar in Arkansas.
Minimum of 0-1 years of experience practicing law, with a focus on debt collection and litigation.
Strong knowledge of debt collection laws, regulations, and procedures.
Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
Ability to work independently and manage a caseload efficiently.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Ability to adapt to changing legal landscapes and provide innovative solutions.
Commitment to ethical debt collection practices and client confidentiality.
Courtroom experience and litigation skills preferred.
