Job Details:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Collections Manager to oversee our collections department. This is a critical role that requires a strong understanding of the collections process, advanced excel skills, reconciliation, general ledger (GL), and the transportation industry. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of five years of experience in a similar role and be ready to hit the ground running. This position will be responsible for managing a team, implementing strategies to increase the number of successful collections, and ensuring compliance with state and federal collections laws.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and manage the daily operations of the collections department.
  • Develop and implement strategies to increase the number of successful collections.
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal collections laws and regulations.
  • Manage a team of collections professionals, providing training and development opportunities as needed.
  • Work closely with other departments to reconcile accounts and resolve discrepancies.
  • Use advanced excel skills to track collections efforts, generate reports, and analyze data.
  • Regularly review and update collections policies and procedures.
  • Communicate effectively with customers, negotiating payment plans and settlements as needed.
  • Collaborate with the legal department on collections cases that require legal action.
  • Stay up-to-date on industry trends and changes in collections laws.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of five years of experience in a collections role, preferably in a managerial position.
  • Strong understanding of the collections process, including state and federal collections laws.
  • Advanced excel skills, including the ability to generate reports and analyze data.
  • Experience reconciling accounts and resolving discrepancies.
  • Knowledge of the transportation industry preferred.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
  • Proven track record of successful collections efforts.
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, business administration, or related field preferred.
