We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Permanent Construction Controller to join our team. This role is vital for the financial management of our construction projects, including overseeing all financial aspects from the initial bidding process to project completion. You will be working closely with project managers, subcontractors, and senior management to ensure financial operations are running smoothly and cost-effectively. This position requires a hands-on approach, exceptional problem-solving skills, and a strong understanding of financial regulations within the construction industry.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all financial aspects of our construction projects, from initial bidding to project completion
  • Manage the financial reporting for each construction project, ensuring that all financial data is accurate and up to date
  • Collaborate with project managers and subcontractors to develop and maintain budgets
  • Review and approve subcontractor invoices, ensuring that all work has been performed in accordance with the contract
  • Implement and maintain internal control safeguards for the receipt of revenue, costs, and project budgets and actual expenditures
  • Coordinate with project managers and other stakeholders to ensure all financial aspects of the projects are on track
  • Assist in the negotiation of contracts and bids
  • Prepare financial forecasts and risk assessments
  • Analyze and report on project profitability, financial risks, and financial performance
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and internal policies

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a financial management role within the construction industry
  • Proven experience working with subcontractors
  • Strong understanding of construction accounting and financial management principles
  • Excellent knowledge of financial project management and risk assessment
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills
  • Proficiency in relevant financial software and applications
  • Ability to multitask and manage multiple projects at once
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills and ability to make sound decisions
  • Professional certification such as CMA, CPA, or similar is a plus.
