We are currently seeking an experienced Construction Controller to join our dynamic team. This is an extraordinary opportunity for a motivated professional who has a passion for the construction industry and possesses a track record of strong strategic and high-level operational accomplishments.
The Construction Controller will be responsible for managing the day-to-day accounting functions, providing financial analysis and reports, and ensuring that the company's accounting procedures and reporting conform to generally accepted accounting principles.
Responsibilities
1. Oversee all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems, ensuring compliance with appropriate GAAP standards and regulatory requirements.
2. Maintain internal control safeguards for the receipt of revenue, costs, and both team and organizational budgets and actual expenditures.
3. Coordinate all audit activities and manage treasury functions.
4. Regularly prepare and present financial statements and reports for senior team leaders.
5. Implement consistent accounting policies, practices, and procedures across all programs, upholding federal, state, and local legal standards by remaining knowledgeable about existing, new, and future legislation.
6. Develop and enforce internal controls to maximize protection of company assets, policies, procedures, and workflow.
7. Oversee and support accounting team with dynamic leadership that creates an environment of trust and productivity.
8. Manage the preparation and review of all financial reports.
9. Manage and track the performance of invested assets in keeping with policies and investment guidelines.
Qualifications
1. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration. CPA or MBA preferred.
2. 10+ years of progressive financial responsibility with a minimum of 5 years of experience in a construction or project-based company.
3. Excellent knowledge of construction accounting processes, including job cost accounting, lien laws, and construction billing practices.
4. Proficiency in accounting software with a preference for Sage or equivalent.
5. Strong interpersonal and communication skills; experience in effectively communicating key data, including presentations to senior management, board, or other outside partners.
6. Ability to translate complex financial concepts to individuals at all levels including finance and non-finance managers.
7. Flexibility and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
