Job Details

Responsibilities:

1. Prepare detailed cost estimates for mechanical construction projects at various stages, from conceptual to detailed design.
2. Evaluate and analyze construction plans, specifications, and other documents to prepare time, cost, materials, and labor estimates.
3. Review data to determine material and labor requirements and prepare itemized lists.
4. Compute cost factors and prepare estimates used for planning, organizing, and scheduling work.
5. Assess cost-effectiveness of products, projects, or services by tracking actual costs relative to bids as the project develops.
6. Consult with clients, vendors, personnel in other departments, or construction foremen to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues.
7. Conduct special studies to develop and establish standard hour and related cost data or effect cost reductions.
8. Prepare cost and expenditure statements and other necessary documentation at regular intervals for the duration of the project.
9. Confer with engineers, architects, owners, contractors, and subcontractors on changes and adjustments to cost estimates.

Qualifications:

1. Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
2. Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Construction Estimator, specifically in mechanical engineering.
3. Proven experience with HVAC projects, piping, ductwork, chillers, and boilers.
4. Experience in renovation, restoration, hospital construction, and remodels is a plus.
5. Strong knowledge of estimating strategies and techniques, and a thorough understanding of construction processes.
6. Excellent ability to read and understand construction plans and specifications.
7. Proficiency in using industry-standard software for estimating and project management.
8. Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with high accuracy in calculations and attention to detail.
9. Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
10. Professional Engineer (PE) license is a plus.
11. Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
12. Strong commitment to safety, including following established Health and Safety protocols.
