Responsibilities
Requirements
- Advise on and negotiate construction contracts, including AIA documents, bonds, indemnities, and lien-related provisions
- Lead dispute resolution efforts including construction defect claims, delay/loss of productivity disputes, and lien enforcement
- Represent clients in litigation, arbitration, mediation, and other ADR forums
- Ensure regulatory compliance across state/federal frameworks affecting public‑private infrastructure work
- Develop and advise on risk management, project-level compliance, and contract administration strategies
- Serve as a strategic legal partner to general contractors, developers, and engineering clients
Requirements
- JD from a top‑tier law school and at least 8 years of focused construction law experience
- Significant expertise in construction litigation, transactional work, and defect claims
- Deep familiarity with AIA standard agreements, lien law, bonds, and risk allocation frameworks
- Proven experience serving both public and private sector clients in major commercial and infrastructure projects
- Strong negotiation, advocacy, and written/oral communication skills
- Active license in good standing to practice in Illinois
