As a Permanent Construction Manager, you will play a pivotal role in our dynamic and fast-paced construction company. You will be responsible for overseeing the planning, design, and construction of projects from beginning to end. This role is a combination of managing people, running meetings, doing estimations and schedules, following up with various people, and ensuring everything is done in the right way. You will be coordinating with a variety of stakeholders including architects, engineers, and subcontractors, and will be expected to handle both administrative and hands-on work. This is a permanent position that offers an exciting opportunity to lead and manage construction projects in the industrial and commercial building sectors.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and direct construction projects from conception to completion.
  • Review the project in-depth to schedule deliverables and estimate costs.
  • Oversee all onsite and offsite constructions to monitor compliance with building and safety regulations.
  • Coordinate and direct construction workers and subcontractors.
  • Review the work progress on a daily basis.
  • Plan ahead to prevent problems and resolve any emerging ones.
  • Negotiate terms of agreements, draft contracts and obtain permits and licenses.
  • Analyze, manage and mitigate risks.
  • Ensure quality construction standards and the use of proper construction techniques.
  • Manage the financial aspects of construction projects, including budgeting, bidding, and cost accounting.
  • Lead and support design teams throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Manage brownfield redevelopment projects, ensuring all aspects are completed to a high standard.

Qualifications:

  • Proven working experience in construction management.
  • Advanced knowledge of construction management processes, means and methods.
  • Expert knowledge of building products, construction details and relevant rules, regulations, and quality standards.
  • Competent in conflict and crisis management.
  • Excellent time and project management skills.
  • Understanding of all facets of the construction process.
  • Familiarity with construction management software packages (Autodesk, etc.).
  • Ability to plan and see the “big picture”.
  • Strong knowledge of commercial glass and glass manufacturing processes.
  • Excellent knowledge of construction estimating, blueprint reading, safety management, and site management.
  • Proficient in strategic planning, resource allocation, contract management, and risk management.
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to support and lead design teams.
  • Ability to read and understand financial metrics and data.
  • Experience of 10+ years in construction management or a related field.
  • BSc/BA in engineering, building science, or relevant field; PMP or equivalent certification will be an advantage.
