We’re looking for a strategic and hands-on Controller to lead our accounting operations and support continued growth across real estate development and construction projects. This is a key leadership position responsible for overseeing all aspects of financial reporting, cash flow management, and project-level accounting in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
Responsibilities:
1. Oversee all accounting operations of the company, including but not limited to, job costing, cost tracking, project budgeting, and construction draw management.
2. Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
3. Manage the company's cash flow by tracking transactions and regularly reviewing internal reports.
4. Supervise and manage financial department staff, including accountants and financial assistants.
5. Conduct regular lien waiver and reconciliation processes.
6. Coordinate and direct the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts, and report variances.
7. Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting.
8. Manage and comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.
9. Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
10. Liaise with our auditors to ensure appropriate monitoring of company finances is maintained.
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. A Master's degree or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation is preferred.
2. A minimum of 5 years of proven experience as a Controller, preferably in the Real Estate and Construction Industry.
3. Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures, including job costing, cost tracking, project budgeting, and construction draw management.
4. Proficient in accounting software such as Sage, Procore, Dynamics, Smartsheet, QuickBooks, Yardi, Timberline, and ERP systems.
5. Strong understanding of lien waiver processes and cash flow reconciliation.
6. Excellent leadership and team management skills.
7. Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
8. Strong analytical and strategic planning skills.
9. High attention to detail and accuracy.
10. Ability to direct and supervise.
11. Strong ethics, with an ability to manage confidential data.
