Our client, a growing and well-established construction and structural steel organization, is seeking an experienced Controller to lead the company's accounting and financial operations. This is a highly visible leadership role responsible for overseeing financial reporting, job cost accounting, cash management, budgeting, lender reporting, and operational financial performance.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in construction, structural steel, fabrication, or project-based manufacturing environments and possess deep expertise in job costing, work-in-process (WIP) accounting, percentage-of-completion revenue recognition, and financial management of complex projects.

Our organization is in search of a highly qualified and experienced Permanent Controller who is ready to take the next step on the CFO track. This is a unique opportunity for a driven and ambitious individual to join our team and play a pivotal role in the financial management of our company. As the Permanent Controller, you will be the backbone of our financial operations, providing strategic leadership, managing and overseeing all financial activities, and ensuring the financial integrity of our business.
Responsibilities:
1. Overseeing all company accounting practices, including accounting departments, preparing budgets, financial reports, tax and audit functions.
2. Directing financial strategy, planning and forecasts; conferring with President, COO and other executive management team members on strategic growth plans.
3. Studying, analyzing and reporting on trends, opportunities for expansion and projection of future company growth.
4. Directing the preparation of all financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, reports to shareholders, tax returns, and reports for government regulatory agencies.
5. Reviewing reports to analyze projections of sales and profit against actual figures, budgeted expenses against final totals, and suggests methods of improving the planning process as appropriate.
6. Overseeing the investment of funds and manage associated risks, supervise cash management activities, execute capital-raising strategies to support a firm’s expansion, and deal with mergers and acquisitions.
7. Collaborating with the executive management team to develop and implement plans for the operational infrastructure of systems, processes, and personnel designed to accommodate the rapid growth objectives of our organization.
Qualifications:
1. CPA designation is required.
2. Minimum of 5 years of experience in a senior-level finance or accounting position.
3. Proven experience in the construction and steel industry is a must.
4. Proficiency in Vista ERP is required.
5. Extensive experience with month-end close processes.
6. Strong understanding of economic and banking processes.
7. Solid written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex financial data in a clear and concise manner.
8. Strong leadership skills with a dedication to driving and achieving results.
9. Knowledge of federal and state financial regulations.
10. Strong problem solving and creative skills and the ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions based on accurate and timely analyses.
