We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Permanent Controller to join our commercial real estate team. This is a unique opportunity to bring your financial expertise to a rapidly growing company in the Accounting + Finance industry. The Permanent Controller will be responsible for managing all aspects of the accounting department, including commercial property accounting, CAM recs, CAM reconciliation, and GL. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in office and shopping center accounting, with proficiency in the use of MRI software.
Responsibilities:
1. Oversee and manage all general ledger activities for the commercial real estate portfolio.
2. Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports.
3. Ensure accurate and timely CAM reconciliations and billings.
4. Implement and maintain financial controls and procedures, ensuring compliance with GAAP and applicable federal, state, and local regulatory laws and rules for financial and tax reporting.
5. Coordinate with external auditors for the annual audit.
6. Develop and manage financial systems and policies.
7. Collaborate with the management team to prepare budgets and financial forecasts.
8. Conduct regular ledger maintenance and reconciliation.
9. Supervise accounting team members, providing guidance, training, and motivation.
10. Participate in the development of strategic financial objectives.
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. A CPA or MBA is highly desirable.
2. Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role, preferably in the commercial real estate sector.
3. Proficient in commercial property accounting, CAM recs, CAM reconciliation, and GL.
4. Experience with MRI software is a must.
5. Strong knowledge of office and shopping center accounting.
6. Excellent leadership and team management skills.
7. Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities.
8. Strong communication and presentation skills.
9. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
10. Ability to meet tight deadlines and manage multiple priorities.
11. High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results-orientation.
