We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Permanent Controller to join our dynamic team in the construction industry. This is an exciting opportunity to play an integral role in our financial management team, where you will oversee all aspects of financial management, including corporate accounting, regulatory and financial reporting, budget and forecasts preparation, as well as the development of internal control policies and procedures.

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Permanent Controller to join our dynamic team in the construction industry. This is an exciting opportunity to play an integral role in our financial management team, where you will oversee all aspects of financial management, including corporate accounting, regulatory and financial reporting, budget and forecasts preparation, as well as the development of internal control policies and procedures.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee all accounting operations including Billing, A/R, A/P, General Ledger, Cost Accounting, Inventory Accounting, and Revenue Recognition.
- Coordinate and direct the preparation of the budget, financial forecasts, and report variances.
- Prepare and publish timely monthly financial statements.
- Coordinate the preparation of regulatory reporting.
- Research technical accounting issues for compliance.
- Manage and comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.
- Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
- Manage retainer accounts and ensure compliance with contractual agreements.
- Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting.
- Manage and oversee the entire accounting team.
- Conduct regular ledger activities.
- Additional controller duties as necessary.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business Administration. A Master's degree or CPA/CMA is highly desirable.
- Proven working experience as a Financial Controller for a minimum of 3+ years.
- Construction industry experience is highly preferred.
- Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures, including GAAP.
- Experience with creating financial statements.
- Excellent accounting software user and administration skills, experience with Sage 100 and ERP systems is highly desirable.
- Strong attention to detail and good analytical skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage well through ambiguity and complexity.
- Ability to execute and follow-through to completion and documentation.
- Demonstrated leadership ability, confidence, and executive presence – ability to motivate staff.
- Excellent judgment and creative problem-solving skills, including negotiation and conflict resolution.
- Ability to make decisions in a changing environment and anticipate future needs.
