We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Controller to join our team in the Healthcare industry. This critical role will oversee all aspects of financial management, including corporate accounting, regulatory and financial reporting, budget and forecasts preparation, as well as the development of internal control policies and procedures. The successful candidate will have a proven track record in the Healthcare industry, with a particular emphasis on skilled nursing and home health.
Responsibilities:
As a Controller, your primary responsibilities will include:
1. Overseeing all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems, ensuring compliance with appropriate GAAP standards and regulatory requirements.
2. Coordinating all audit activity and manage the production of the annual budget and forecasts.
3. Protecting assets by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing internal controls.
4. Monitoring and confirming financial condition by conducting audits and providing information to external auditors.
5. Maximizing return and limiting risk by managing cash flow and treasury.
6. Preparing budgets by establishing schedules; collecting, analyzing, and consolidating financial data; recommending plans.
7. Achieving budget objectives by scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions.
8. Providing status of financial condition by collecting, interpreting, and reporting financial data.
9. Preparing special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
10. Complying with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation, anticipating future legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements, filing financial reports, and advising management on needed actions.
11. Completing operational requirements by scheduling and assigning employees; following up on work results.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate for the Permanent Controller position should possess the following qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. Master’s degree or CPA is preferred.
2. 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, with a portion of it being in a supervisory role.
3. Experience in the Healthcare industry, with a focus on skilled nursing and home health.
4. Expertise in creating financial statements, general ledger functions, and the month-end/year-end close process.
5. Excellent knowledge of accounting regulations and procedures, including the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
6. Hands-on experience with accounting software packages, like FreshBooks and QuickBooks.
7. Advanced MS Excel skills including Vlookups and pivot tables.
8. Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process.
9. Excellent analytical skills with an attention to detail.
10. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
11. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage well through ambiguity and complexity.
12. Ability to execute and follow-through to completion and documentation.
