Job Details

Position Summary:
The Hospital Controller is responsible for overseeing and managing the hospital's accounting system and financial operations. This includes overseeing various financial processes such as charges, billing, accounts receivable, cash receipts, collections, accounts payable, payroll, general ledger, forecasting, budgeting, internal controls, and audits. The Controller plays a crucial role in creating an environment and culture that enables the hospital to fulfill its mission by achieving its goals, ensuring staff accountability, promoting performance improvement, and prioritizing patient safety and patient-centered treatment.


Responsibilities and Tasks:

Approve hospital expenses purchases in accordance with established policies and procedures.
Conduct monthly financial reviews of the hospital and implement expense control measures.
Prepare and submit required state financial reports.
Develop and manage the annual financial budget and capital budget.
Monitor accounts receivable on a daily basis.
Prepare and submit monthly financial packages to the corporate office.
Assist in monitoring labor productivity within the department.
Prepare weekly financial forecasts.
Generate reports as requested by the CEO, hospital leaders, regional teams, and corporate office.
Ensure adherence to internal controls and coordinate audits for the hospital.
Prepare cost report packages as needed.
Support compliance with Medicare regulations.
Implement effective plans to optimize operational efficiency.
Participate in hospital governing body and partnership boards as required.
Organize, plan, and manage time efficiently to complete assignments.
Meet position requirements and perform essential functions.
Complete mandatory training and courses within specified timeframes.

Minimum Qualifications:

**Healthcare, Home Health, or Hospital experience required**
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration/Management with a major in Accounting. MBA preferred.
Minimum of five years of experience in hospital accounting preferred.
Strong knowledge of healthcare financial management, accounting principles, and regulations.
Managerial skills typically acquired through two to three years of experience in public accounting, specifically in health care auditing and reimbursement knowledge (for small hospitals) or one to three years of experience as a hospital chief financial officer.
CPA certification preferred.
