Job Details
The Controller will serve as a key financial leader responsible for overseeing accounting operations, financial reporting, cost accounting, budgeting, and internal controls across multiple business entities. This individual will play a critical role in developing and maintaining standardized costing methodologies, improving financial visibility, and partnering with operational leaders to drive profitability and efficiency.
The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in manufacturing and cost accounting, experience managing complex multi-entity organizations, and the ability to translate financial data into actionable business insights.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Leadership & Reporting
Oversee all accounting operations across multiple entities and business units.
Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes.
Prepare and review consolidated financial statements and management reporting packages.
Ensure compliance with GAAP and company accounting policies.
Develop and maintain strong internal controls and financial governance procedures.
Coordinate annual audits and manage relationships with external auditors, tax advisors, and banking partners.
Cost Accounting & Inventory Management
Develop, implement, and maintain standardized cost systems across manufacturing operations.
Establish and regularly update standard costs for labor, materials, overhead, and production processes.
Analyze manufacturing variances and provide recommendations to improve profitability and operational efficiency.
Partner with operations leadership to optimize inventory management, production costing, and supply chain performance.
Oversee inventory valuation, physical inventory counts, cycle counts, and reconciliations.
Monitor product margins and provide detailed profitability analysis by product line and business unit.
Financial Planning & Analysis
Lead annual budgeting and forecasting processes across multiple entities.
Develop key performance indicators (KPIs) and financial dashboards for executive leadership.
Provide financial analysis to support strategic initiatives, capital investments, and operational decision-making.
Identify opportunities to improve financial performance, cash flow, and working capital management.
Team Leadership & Process Improvement
Manage and mentor accounting staff across multiple functions and locations.
Drive process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and scalability.
Evaluate and optimize ERP systems, reporting tools, and accounting workflows.
Establish best practices and standardized procedures across all business units.
Qualifications
Required
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
8+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience.
3+ years of leadership experience managing accounting teams.
Strong cost accounting experience within manufacturing environments.
Experience developing and maintaining standard costing systems.
Multi-entity accounting and financial consolidation experience.
Advanced knowledge of inventory accounting, variance analysis, and operational finance.
Strong understanding of GAAP and internal control frameworks.
Advanced Excel and financial reporting skills.
Preferred
CPA or CMA designation.
Experience in agriculture, poultry, food production, manufacturing, or related industries.
ERP implementation or optimization experience.
Experience supporting multiple business lines or complex organizational structures.
